Talk about party unity. On Friday, almost anyone who could be considered a Republican Party leader will converge on Ohio to kick off one last, four-day push for GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in advance of Tuesday?s election.
According to the Romney campaign, nearly 100 Republican governors, senators, mayors, and celebrities will attend a ?Victory Rally? at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at The Square at Union Centre in West Chester, Ohio. Both Romney and running mate Paul Ryan and their families will attend. The event is the first of the four-day, tongue-tying, ?Romney-Ryan Real Recovery Road Rally.?
Members of Congress expected to show include: House Speaker John Boehner and Sen. Rob Portman, both?of Ohio; Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida;?Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina; Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, and Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
Among governors, the list includes Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, Rick Perry of Texas, and Sam Brownback of Kansas.
Athletes on the list include golfer Jack Nicklaus, figure skater Scott Hamilton, and inline speed skater Derek Parra. And former office holders include former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
President Obama will be campaigning in Ohio on Friday as well, but should be out of the state before the GOP gala. The incumbent has three events scheduled, with the last one ending at 5:20 p.m., putting him safely on his way back to Washington when the Republican festivities commence.?
Romney's rally will feature a performance by musician Kid Rock. Then the caravan will hit 11 states around the country, in different groups, from Friday through Monday. Rally stops are expected in the battleground states of Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
